Frederic graduated as a mechanical engineer, started is career on the Rafale plane prototype of Dassault Aviation, worked for Airbus group CAD computer software division, 5 years in Japan, then joined Dassault Systèmes in 1998 to lead the partnership & alliances programs, then corporate development and strategy.

Frédéric lived the beginnings of the internet and follows its progression until then, to develop websites before any editor by coding directly in HTML, and to realize in 1995 one of the very first 3D websites for an art gallery. This project was very pioneering for the time, 3D technologies on the web were emerging, in the late 90’ he joined Dassault Systèmes to continue his journey in the 3D virtual world, in 1999 he created a joint venture with Franck Gehry, to establish a new software suite, Digital Project, for architecture and construction based on BIM.

Fred is now Head of Innovation and founded the 3DEXPERIENCE Lab in 2015, an open innovation lab accelerating disruptive innovations that give a strong positive impact to the society.

To think big, he designed this initiative to be very inclusive, open and collaborative through communities and mentoring. Connecting people, sharing know how and knowledge on a cloud platform makes it possible, and scalable.
All twenty thousand employees are now connected. It creates teams that are a group of people that works together with common purpose, not just a group of people assigned to work on the same project.
This Lab is now globally deployed with a strong network of incubator partners and 5 main hubs in Paris, Boston, Pune, Munich and Shanghai coming soon. Michal is a principal Llama engineer at Meta Paris, tenured researcher at Inria, and the lecturer at the MVA master of ENS Paris-Saclay. Michal is primarily interested in designing algorithms that would require as little human supervision as possible. That is why he is working on methods and settings that are able to deal with minimal feedback, such as deep reinforcement learning, bandit algorithms, self-supervised learning, or self play. Michal has recently worked on representation learning, word models and deep (reinforcement) learning algorithms that have some theoretical underpinning. In the past he has also worked on sequential algorithms with structured decisions where exploiting the structure leads to provably faster learning. Michal is now working on large large models (LMMs), in particular providing algorithmic solutions for their scalable fine-tuning and alignment. He received his Ph.D. in 2011 from the University of Pittsburgh under the supervision of Miloš Hauskrecht and was a postdoc of Rémi Munos before getting a tenure at Inria in 2012 and starting Google DeepMind Paris in 2018.
