What APIs have in store for the next 10 years? The API Mindset to think platform, the APIs to release value and data internally, as well as collaboration between teams. Software is eating the world, said Marc Andreessen in 2011, but in only 10 years, APIs have devoured software. Indeed, these software interfaces have become business interfaces, making it possible to release value on a large scale, and are at the origin of the largest digital platforms and ecosystems models.
Companies with only API products, such as Stripe or Twilio, are valued at up to 100 billion euros in less than 10 years. Some, such as AWS, Salesforce, Shopify, or Expedia, have become platform-empires thanks to APIs. But what have these API-led organizations applied that others haven’t yet understood?
What APIs have in store for the next 10 years? The API Mindset to think platform, the APIs to release value and data internally, as well as collaboration between teams. Even developing products in the form of APIs and allowing non-technical profiles to create applications thanks to No-Code, and much more!
This is why we shouldn’t confine the acronym API only as something technical, but understand that the role of an IT leader today is to transform the tool to become an instrument that propels your organization into new programmable business models.

Director at APIsFirst and Co-lead of Women In APIs
ABOUT
I make strategy happen: a translator of goals and aspirations into technology change that sticks. Galvanising teams and individuals around the big picture; getting traction with short-term priorities for customers and stakeholders; while making tangible progress towards longer-term transformational outcomes. My best work is at the busy intersection of transformation, scaled agile delivery, systems and platforms overhaul, business architecture, digital innovation, and cultural change. Comfortable with high degrees of ambiguity, I'm about getting cut through quickly and forging buy-in to ways forward at the coalface of delivery; while maintaining a deep respect for people as humans and recognising the impact of decisions and action on impacted individuals and groups. I’m a systems thinker with wide-ranging experience leading technology, project and consulting teams in industries such as financial services and acute healthcare, across Australia, the UK and Hong Kong. I believe diversity of thought and input is fundamental to challenging cultural norms and ingrained behaviours constructively. Collaborative and pragmatic in my approach, results come through planning and execution discipline, infectious energy and care for the individual. As an active champion for women in technology and global lead of Women In APIs, I am regularly sought out to mentor and coach women at different stages in their lives and careers. I have conceived and delivered multiple programs that have made a tangible difference for balance and inclusion targeted at groups such as female high school students looking at university and job choices; women returning to IT work after a career break; and non-native English speakers gaining confidence with better writing and communication skills.

Growth Advisor at The Business of Technology
ABOUT
I am an independent growth advisor, and Head of Strategy and Innovation for Sensedia. In one sentence, what I do is the Business of Technology. Every CEO wants to grow. It is well known that technology, when properly applied, can be a growth multiplier, for conventional and even more for digital revenue.
The problem is, the world is full of technologists who are not great business people, and vice versa. That’s where I come in: I spent a lifetime advising companies on how to get technology to work for their business. I am a technologist, and a businessman.
Like a Bank offering an open banking platform, parts of traditional businesses are becoming technology companies: I assisted several companies in solving the challenges of getting a platform business model to work. In the coming years, there will be more traditional enterprises operating, at least in part, as a technology company.
I have been an Industry Analyst with Gartner for 23 years, and have worked with software companies for a lifetime. I have deep experience in application infrastructure, especially API management, integration, and various flavors of automation (from process mining to business process management to robotic process automation to low code platforms).
I also advise investors on the most effective choice of providers to engage with, according to their investment priorities.
In one sentence, what I do is the Business of Technology.

ABOUT
Cher lecteur,
