As CTO of NHS England I established the home testing service for Test and Trace and the design authority to mitigate potential technology risk given the pace of delivery. I led the quality assurance and technical design of the Contact Tracing App, established the technology and data function for the vaccination programme leading to successful rollout of the vaccine and convinced the Health Secretary to put the COVID travel pass in the NHS App.
I am an effective member of the NHS Digital leadership team leading on the technology strategy and target operating model elements for the CIO directorate within NHS England, as part of the merger. I am also leading on the cloud strategy for NHS England supporting the rollout of a cloud centre of excellence and supporting the wider system in migrating to public cloud.
Whilst at William Hill I led on the agile transformation initiative reporting to the board. I introduced agile ways of working into 45 teams across the group leading to significant improvements in speed to market and quality. I was also responsible for the global trading platform across the group re-architecting it to support expansion into US states, international territories and improving its resilience at peak,
I am particularly proud of introducing hackathons into William Hill following great success at Hermes when I founded the Innovation Lab and partnered with Google and Leeds Beckett University. I have taken ideas from concept to production using design sprints/ lean to test and learn and then scale through agile product teams.
