Many regulations are forcing incumbents that have never been open – neither on the cultural, nor the technical side – to open APIs. And these companies face huge challenges to make it happen resisting the attack by startups and innovative players who are going faster.

In the USA, it is the healthcare industry regulation that started to promote using APIs to open systems for more interoperability to benefit end-users, with programs like EHR, FHIR, LH7, etc.

In Europe, PSD2 and Open Banking UK have led the path to open banking and are followed by more than 40 countries, which are adopting API-led regulations to force banks to open APIs.

Insurance may be the next fortress to fall if the industry doesn’t proactively do it before regulators. Now, the US Federal Trade Commission is also evaluating the opportunity of regulation for the US Banking industry.

Last but not least, the Public Sector and Governments are also pushing for the use of APIs to support their open data policies and deliver value to ecosystems.

As we move into the API economy, there are huge opportunities for new and innovative solutions. In order to unlock value with new business models and winning experiences you need the help of an API management solution that enables automated API creation, simple discovery of assets, self-service access for developers, and built-in security and governance. IBM would like to be your partner on this journey, sharing our expertise and experiences to help maximize the value of APIs for your enterprise. More information: https://www.ibm.com/cloud/api-connect

Noname Security has the most powerful, complete, and easy-to-use API security platform that enables enterprises to discover, analyze, remediate, and test all APIs. Noname finds and inventories APIs; detects attacks, suspicious behavior, and misconfigurations using AI-based behavioral analysis; prevents attacks and integrates with existing remediation and security infrastructure; and actively validates APIs before deployment.

Sensedia focuses on modern integrations solutions and offers world-class products, such as the Sensedia API Platform, Adaptive Governance, Events Hub, Service Mesh and Cloud Connectors. The company also provides Strategy & Professional Services around full life cycle API management.
Sensedia is recognized by the Gartner Magic Quadrant as Visionary and by the Forrester Wave report as a Strong Performer, both regarding our full life cycle management products.

APIs are driving your digital business, whether you know it or no and the world’s leading organizations trust Akana to secure, design, and manage their APIs to reach their full digital potential while minimizing risk.

We continue to think about integration, initiate business transformation, and enable rapid innovation for the Internet of Things, enabling companies to stand out from their competitors with business models. We give them the freedom to connect and integrate any technology, from the app to the edge. We open data silos and make data divisible, usable, and valuable, so our customers can make the best decisions and unlock new growth opportunities.

StackHawk makes it simple for developers to find, triage, and fix application security bugs. Scan your application for AppSec bugs, triage and fix with provided documentation, and automate in your pipeline to prevent future bugs from hitting prod.

Modern applications are extremely hard to secure and protect. Microservices, APIs, and cloud services are complex and continuously change. Traceable enables security to manage their application and API risks given the continuous pace of change and modern threats to applications.

Datadog is a SaaS-based monitoring and security platform for infrastructure, applications, logs, and more. Through its fully unified platform, Datadog delivers complete visibility into the performance of modern applications.
