Veronica leads the Safer Cyberspace initiatives in the Cyber Security Agency (CSA) of Singapore, where she led the development of risk management frameworks to help organisations to navigate their cybersecurity risks. This manifested in the form of the Cyber Essentials and Cyber Trust national cybersecurity certification standards, published as Technical Reference 106:2022.

Director, Health Analytics Division - Ministry of Health Singapore

Sutowo is an effectively bilingual Data Analytics and Artificial Intelligence (AI) leader who has successfully implemented large and complex digital transformation programmes. The largest transformation programme (~$100 million budget) that he led required him to work with ~200 stakeholders, integrate diverse requirements and manage trade-offs.

He thrived in entrepreneurial environment – he built a consulting practice from scratch in a global consulting firm. He demonstrated that he could work with ambiguity – he accepted a role without job description and successfully navigated complex organisational landscape, obtained approval from senior management to refresh analytics operating model, reorganise its analytics functions and set up a new analytics department. He has also successfully managed a merger of analytics functions and integrated talents from diverse backgrounds into a cohesive unit.

He is currently working as the Divisional Director, Health Analytics Division at Ministry of Health (MOH) Singapore. He leads a team of data scientists, statisticians, epidemiologists and health economists in applying AI, machine learning (ML), operations research, systems modeling, geospatial analytics, forecasting, econometrics, visualisation and primary research in support of MOH’s priorities in policy formulation and review, service planning and operations. He is also responsible for capability development, publication, partnership and outreach with regard to data analytics and AI in MOH.

He was responsible for leading AI strategy for Public Health Sector and building ecosystem enablers needed i.e. AI governance, data and IT platforms, funding, to support the development and deployment of impactful, scalable, responsible AI solutions.

During COVID-19 pandemic, he led the ops-tech integration effort by developing end-to-end service journeys for COVID-19 patients to identify opportunities to improve patient outcomes and experience, drive IT system consolidation and improve operational processes.

He served as a member in SingHealth Board’s Service Excellence Committee (SEC) where he worked closely with SingHealth’s Senior Management to set the strategic direction to optimise patient experience across both digital and physical touchpoints.

He chaired the Technical Review Committee comprising members from MOH, Synapxe and Public Healthcare Clusters to identify learning points and obtain consensus on the immediate remediation and longer term roadmap for a troubled national-level IT implementation which was approved by Minister of Health.

He moved to Singapore in Y2016 to lead the Agile infused Strategic Deal Team (consisting of Deal Strategists, Content writers, UI/UX designers and visual Designers) to develop pre-sales proposals (using videos, microsites, journey maps, etc), working closely with GBS/IX on cross-brand ASEAN & AP Market key deals.

Faiz has achieved 5 Stevie Awards, 2 Best in Biz Awards and many more service industry external awards. In 2018 he was selected as a top IBM employee "Best of IBM' and met the CEO at Bahamas, Caribbean. He was also selected for his leadership qualities and attended the 2019 Managerial assessment program (MAP) at Armonk, New York. His creative team supported wins of several million dollars in deals and is a key partner to IBM Consulting.

Faiz was also selected to participate in the IBM Corporate Service Corps (CSC) where he was assigned to Al-Ain Municipality, Abu Dhabi in Y2013 to create a future city roadmap.

Outside of IBM, Faiz spent time collaborating with external organizations, leading workshops on Enterprise Design Thinking and coaching sellers on the use of personas in client journey maps. I've recruited and built multiple Finance teams and leveraged my MS and BS in Electrical Engineering from MIT to work cross-functionally across product and engineering.

I'm proud of my track record of growth, profitability, and successful exits. I've successfully raised $100M+ of venture debt and equity. As CFO of Sun Basket, I turned the $200M company by $30M at the bottom line into profitability and led capital markets efforts yielding a merger valued at $1B+. As COO and CFO of Intalio, I successfully restructured, financed and executed M&A exit to three strategic buyers, yielding 100% employment and 5X+ return.

Finally, before my executive roles, I had extensive Board and capital markets experience as a VC and entrepreneur. I served as General Partner at U.S. Venture Partners, and Summit Partners and led successful investments in application servers (NetDynamics, acquired by Sun Microsystems), firewalls (Check Point, NASDAQ: CHKP) and SaaS (Salesforce, NASDAQ: CRM). While at USVP, I co-founded Acta Technology (acquired by Business Objects), a pioneering Business Intelligence company. My start-up career began as a Director of Product Management at Channel Computing - bringing the first business intelligence tool to the Windows platform.

Outside of work, I'm a 4-time Boston Marathon finisher, 3-time Ironman and triathlete completing over 25 Half-Ironman races.
